This installation has been set up to cope with expanding stock levels.
It is used as a supply store for book retailers.
The 11 racking rows have different lengths and comprise a total of 104 bays of different widths, a useable depth of 3000 mm each and
a height of 5325 mm.
The bays are equipped with 7 straight flow levels with 11 lanes each and a 2 pallet high buffer stock on top. Flow shelf capacity 900 kg maximum, no lane separations.
Total capacity: 11102 lanes and 851 pallet positions. In order to provide for future growth, all static components have a sufficient load capacity for later installation of mezzanine floors on top. Two 16 bay long runs have already been topped with a mezzanine floor.
The installation stores loose books and stretch-wrapped book piles of different dimensions and weights. Function:
A- and B-items are stocked in the static pallet buffer racking and picked from the carton live storage levels on the ground floor. C-items are stocked and picked from the static shelving located on the 430 m² mezzanine floor.
One shelving run provides frequently changing bestseller titles for paperless order picking. Benefits:
Fast access to the goods to be picked and subdivision of the stock according to stock rotation increased productivity. The warehouse space now available provides sufficient capacity for the constantly growing book range. The installation's static layout allows to install additional flow shelves or static shelving for C-items on the first floor. |
