Background:
AEROPUMP planned to build a new warehouse in order to meet the increasing hygienic requirements of their customers.
Until recently, the company used various carton and bin types for in-house circulation. The products were stored in static shelving or on pallets.
From the logistical as well as from the pharmaceutical point of view, this situation was not satisfying. Function:
The new automated bin storage installation type »AKL« operating with BITO containers KLTD 64420 D sized 600 x 400 x 420 mm with hinged lid and double base are now central to the warehouse.
The injection-moulded parts which have been manufactured under 'clean room conditions' are ejected directly into BITO containers clad with a plastic bag.
After a container has been filled with the intended quantity, the bag is heat-sealed, the hinged lid closed and the container fed into the »AKL« installation.
Benefits:
Due to the hinged lid and the smooth, easy-to-clean inside and outside container walls, the products are efficiently protected from dust and soil.
The two section hinged lid is easy to open and does not 'build up', as the sections lie flat on the container walls. With their double base, the containers comply with the tolerances set up for base rigidity.
By deciding for a consistent container model for all handling purposes, it was possible to cut costs considerably.
