Features:
Central store for chemist's sundries consisting of four different types of high bay racking: pallet racking, pallet live storage racking, pallet live storage racking combined with push-back racking for pallets and carton live storage racking with a pallet buffer stock above. The installation consists of 30 blocks of racking with a length of 42000 mm each. Depths 2400 and 3600 mm, height 8 855 mm. Total storage capacity 10 780 pallets (5000 pallets are stored in the live storage levels) and 440 live storage levels for cartons.
Function:
Every day, this central warehouse supplies its sales outlets with almost 500 000 individual items from a product range of some 7 000 product lines. This requires some 90 000 picks per day. Small items are picked in zone 1 which consists of carton live storage racking. Small quantities in their original packing are picked from the floor level of pallet live storage/push-back racking, whereas larger quantities in their original packs are picked from the pallet live storage blocks with order picking trucks. Complete pallet loads are picked directly from the high bay pallet racking in the buffer store or from the pallet live storage blocks.
